Crispy Dough Pizzeria is a family-owned and operated pizza shop at 1514 Tremont St in Mission Hill, Boston. We are open until 1 AM Sunday through Thursday and until 3 AM Friday and Saturday, at (617) 445-7799. The goal, from day one: excellent service and superior quality, without cutting a single corner on the food.
Open since March 2011
Yousef Irziqat opened Crispy Dough on 15 March 2011. He grew up in Hebron, in the West Bank, took a law degree in Amman, and moved to the United States in 2006, where he started out working at his brother's shop, Il Mondo Pizzeria on Huntington Avenue. He picked Tremont Street because of who is around it. In his own words to The Huntington News: “I know the area, it has potential. It's growing with the students, because there are colleges around, and they will never shut down.”
Five years in, the city granted the shop a license to serve until 2 AM. Some of the people behind the counter have been here close to twelve years, and Yousef is usually one of them. In 2015 the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center named Crispy Dough in its annual report for its work in the neighborhood.
What comes out of the oven
The dough is made fresh daily. The menu runs twenty-two pizzas deep, from a $17.99 build-your-own cheese to the House Special carrying thirteen toppings, plus twelve huge calzones, every one with marinara on the side, hot and cold subs and wraps, and pasta dinners served with fresh bread.
Open late, on purpose
The ovens stay on until 1 AM most nights and 3 AM on the weekend. You'll find the shop at 1514 Tremont Street in Mission Hill, five minutes on foot from Roxbury Crossing on the Orange Line, six from Brigham Circle, and about twelve from Ruggles and the Northeastern campus.
Halal, all of it
Every meat on the menu is halal. Not a section of it, and not a substitution you have to ask for: the pizzas, the calzones, the subs, the wraps and the dinners. Where the menu says bacon, ham or pepperoni, that is beef and turkey. It has been that way since the shop opened.
Two doors down
In March 2024 Yousef opened Hebron Market at 1522 Tremont, a halal butcher counter and grocery carrying olive oil, spices and bread from Palestine, Turkey, Syria and Lebanon. A shawarma counter, Crispy Dough Shawarma, is opening inside it. Same family, same block.
